Summer Camps & Summer Schools, 2025Hello, I'm a parent, and my list of summer camps and summer schools near Culver City, the Westside of Los Angeles (and more) has been growing! There are sleep away camps as well. I am happy to share this list with you. I don't charge for this free service.
The camps are for kids, youth and teens ranging from baby to 12th grade. There's a healthy mix of just about every kind of summer camp or summer school your child might be looking for. The categories aren't perfect, and there's some cross-over. Have fun looking! Tips from other parents: Don't let camp prices get you down. Some camps offer scholarships or need-based discounts, and there are plenty of great enrichment camps through Parks & Recreation, Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks ($10 only!), YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, etc. Do you have a favorite camp? PRESCHOOLS
Ever since 1948, La Playa Cooperative Nursery School has been providing students with a rich and diverse learning environment. Generations of families have attended our preschool and La Playa alumni become independent, confident children with a strong educational foundation, healthy social-emotional skills, and an understanding of helping others around them. Our unparalleled teaching methods help to launch students into the successful future they have always dreamed of. We encourage both staff, students, and parents to grow, learn and create each passing day.
Program is for 3-5 year olds and is designed for stay-at-home moms and part-time working moms. This part-time 3-day-a-week program is Montessori-based and includes weekly field trips to nature parks and educational venues. Moms and younger siblings come to field trips for free.

Ballona Discovery Nature Camp is a science-based day camp focusing on nature in our urban environment. Camp encourages children to explore Ballona by engaging them in fun and educational activities, from identifying plants and animals to participating in environmental stewardship projects, and more!
Camp Awesome® is a drop off only beach summer program for children ages 4-13. Camp curriculum consists of play, leisure, sports, arts and crafts, water activities, exercise, and positive reinforcement. Camp will also consist of beach parties, field trips, and making short films and music videos. Parents will be able to follow their children at any time online through our social media.

Each day will be mixed with team building, performance art, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and professionally constructed fart jokes – culminating in a final live performance at the end of each one-week session on Friday night for family and friends at The Crow’s main stage.

Come build amazing eco-friendly creations with us! Tinkering Camp teaches children the skills they need to turn their wildest imaginings into robust items made from wood, plastic, metal, and fabric. While practicing social distancing with their own workbench and set of tools for the week, the group will have activities that encourage socialization and cooperation while building projects on their own to a group theme. With a 5:1 camper to facilitator ratio, our workshop provides a supportive environment for personal growth through skills development and creative construction. This is a COVID-modified version of our flagship program. For safety, and to facilitate making at home after camp is over, add on a new Tinkering Tool Kit to your tinkerer's home makerspace at the end of the week.

The Hero Workshop Summer Camp will be out of this world! This year, heroes will be blasting off into Wildspace and landing on a brand new planet that they get to explore, and name. What will they discover on their journey? The Hero Workshop hosts storytelling workshops for heroes age 8 and up. We use games like Dungeons and Dragons to provide a mechanical framework for a story that we make up as we experience it, where each player is a hero in our story.
Each day, we will design our hero and make decisions about their new powers that they discover on their adventures. Days at camp start at 10:00am with some work on our hero, then we will do an activity such as a craft or a game. We break for lunch between 11:30-12:00 (provided as part of camp). After lunch, we play DnD until pickup at 3:00. We hope you are able to join us for the adventure!”

Be Kind Be You Girls Empowerment Camp is an all-girls camp dedicated to empowering young girls to be leaders through athletics, arts, and mindfulness activities. The Filipino martial art of Kali will be taught every day as an introduction to the heritage arts of the Filipino people. We'll play games played by children in the Philippines, make crafts inspired by the cultural traditions of the Philippines, watch movies, and play on the beach!

Purple Magpie Mandarin (紫鹊中文) applies the same philosophy of Chinese immersion, high-quality childcare from experienced educators to both our full-time, Monday to Friday daycare program and our weekend lessons. Designed to provide a welcoming environment with small class sizes, we make learning fun and collaborative. Our daycare promotes Mandarin and Chinese cultural education for young children through different activities. Weekend lessons are for older children and include intermediate Mandarin instruction, introduction to Chinese culture, and mathematics.

The kids will acquire vocabulary and practice the Spanish language. This camp is perfect for youngsters without any knowledge of Spanish, as well as for the advanced. The children will work in groups matching their age and level of Spanish. Each week camp is theme-based and filled with engaging activities ranging from arts and crafts to games, stories, songs, cooking, nature, music, puppet shows, local field trips, and more!
